What is Windows Live Movie Maker ?
Windows Live Movie Maker is a piece software created by Microsoft, designed for the purpose of creating and editing video. The programme allows you to import audio, video and picture files that can be combined and edited using text, special effects and transitions in order to create a movie clip.
It is very accessible to schools as it is freely available. Windows computers come with the programme pre-installed and it is also available for download from the Windows Live webpage.

So many children have access to computers outside of the classroom. Therefore software that is so easily accessible, such as Movie Maker, is great as it means children are able to continue using and furthering their knowledge on this software in their own time.

Twinkle Twinkle Video
The video to the right is a clip I have created using Windows Movie Maker. This type of video is something that could be made and used in the classroom, whether it be of a song like this or a short story. This would be a great class project as it would give all class members the chance to be involved. For example some children could create artwork/graphics to use in the video, others could write the script whilst another group are recording some music to accompany the clip.
When making a video such as this it is good to use original work however this can be time consuming so it is possible to search for media that you are licensed to use and edit. One way of finding licensed media is by doing a Creative Commons Search from their webpage.
